Oracle of the week Ehwaz - Get in step (Rhythm), and get your A%%^ moving....

Ehwaz, the rune of the horse. More specifically two horses in harness, working together. Anyone getting a feeling that the moon and stars are playing at their influence game pretty strongly lately. Well today I was drawing the card, and out comes Ehwaz. Not quite feeling the card, I took another pack and shuffled again. Out comes Mani, the moon card. Which speaks of time, and how precious it is. Thinking I really need to stick with what I was led with the first draw, I thought perhaps there is a common theme here. And low and behold, Time, more importantly the urgency in time. Mani is a card which represents the male god of the moon. The old norse...

Oracle of the week - Frithgeard - Finding a place of refuge, offer gratitude

Wednesday morning, and time to look around at the energies, and where to focus our energies for the next 7 days. This week the oracle card is Frithgeard. So a little background on what the viking tribes called a Frithgeard. The Frithgeard was a place dedicated to the gods and was sacred to nature spirits like elves as well. It was normally located in a place near trees, springs, stones and other natural spots that were considered to be receptacles of great magickal power. These were the places the community went to worship. Unlike other sacred spaces restricted to certain rank, the Frithgeard was available to all, even oath-breakers. Guidelines were set assuring no hunting, harvesting or cultivating in these...

Oracle of the Week - Sowilo (soe-wee-low) Success and Hope for things to come

Sowulo / Sowilo, (pronounced soe-wee-low) means The Sun. And for those of us down in the southern hemisphere this is a good sign as we approach the mid-winters mark, our winter solstice. Sowilo speaks of optimism, hope and good guidance. It speaks of achieving goals, and success, honor and luck. Sowilo is also the rune of spirit and soul. This week our message is to look forward in hope. To know that the lessons we have met these past weeks, and the efforts we have made will result in success and hope for the future. Spirit would have us know that we should remain optimistic of the things to come. We have honored agreements, kept our ground, and now must...

Oracle of the week - Tiwaz - honor your agreements, and be true in all your dealings

Tiwaz - The one handed god. The symbol of trust, faith and loyalty. A little Background: Tiwaz,(Pronounce tyr-was) is ruled by the god Tyr, who sacrificed his hand to Fnrir the wolf for the good of his community. It is said that the Aesir gods were afraid that Fenrir would destroy them, and decided to bind the great wolf, but had to trick him in order to do so. They asked Fenrir to use his great strength to test some bonds for them, assuring him they would let him go if he were unable to break the bonds. Fenrir was rightly suspicious, and he asked for insurance. He asked that one of the gods place their hand in his mouth and...

Oracle of the Week - The Three Norns - They have more to say, and they say it straight

Those of you following the Oracle of the week, will recognize this from the May 1st post. Sitting in my practice room today, and creating, preparing the space, to draw the Oracle of the week, I follow a small ritual. Part of which is to call on the three Norns; Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld, to speak truly, for they are the ones who weave the web of Wyrd. But, what to do when this is the second time this card comes out in just over a month. Do I put it back and ask again. I think not. Unless I want to open myself for a spiritual slap. :-)  "There stands an ash called Yggdrasil,A mighty tree showered in white...
