Weekly Oracle Card -Desert - Vision Quest (2018-04-04 Wed)

Desert ~ Vision Quest:

The vision quest is found in many cultures. Throughout history, we have passed down many stories of people wandering the desert. Often they are about religious figures and ascended masters who had journeyed there and returned to their people with remarkable vision. For instance Jesus spent 40 days in the desert before starting his ministry. Buddha also spend 40 days in seclusion before his true interactions began,

No I don't think pulling the Vision Quest card for this weeks oracle is in any way telling us to disappear for 40 days in seclusion. But there is an important element  or lesson to note here.

The vision quest typically happens in a desert. Away from luxuries, and also with minimal supplies. An initiate would traditionally go out into the desert with only minimal water. No food. Only your water, and any form of sacred item/s.

In the acrid climate zone that we call desert, images shift and change throughout the day, yet always maintain a sharp and defined presence. Those hardy species of flora and fauna that have found a home in the desert have adapted over eons to the relative harshness that is a strong characteristic of these lands. Its often in seclusion, and harsh environments like heat (think of the traditional sweat lodges) that we are silenced from outside influence, and forced to look inwards towards our inner voice, and innder strength.

It is time for you to take out some time from your busy schedule, and make a "Spirit Quest". Find a quiet place in nature, away from others, and sit quietly for a few hours, (or a few days on a solitude camp if you feel that strongly) in contemplation. Spend the majority of this time praying and meditating. Take your burning question, or challenge with you. Allow it to just float around you in your consciousness, and wait and see watch shows up.

Answers come from within. But we often need to quieting the noise around us so we can hear the voice from within. Removed from all distractions we often find we have known the answer to our question but have just never let it surface due to the distractions of the day to day hustle.

Have a fantastic week, and enjoy discovering yourself on your vision quest.
